Your prayer life is private. We built Nós with that in mind.
Who We Are
Nós is a Catholic prayer app created by Carter Shannon ("we," "us," or "our"). By using Nós, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you have questions, contact us at novena.app.customer.service@gmail.com.
What We Collect
We collect only what we need to make Nós work for you:
- Your name and email address when you create an account
- Prayer intentions, novena progress, journal entries, and testimonies you create in the app
- Your situation preferences and onboarding survey responses
- Your notification settings and time preferences
- Anonymous, aggregated usage data to improve the app (no personal identifiers)
A note on prayer intentions: Your prayer intentions and journal entries may reflect personal religious beliefs. We treat this information with the highest level of care. It is stored securely, never shared, never sold, and never used for advertising.
How We Use Your Information
- To run the app and keep your prayer data synced across sessions
- To suggest novenas that match your situation or intentions
- To send daily prayer reminders, only if you enable them
- To display the anonymous global prayer count (no personal data included)
- To respond to your support requests
- To send occasional feature updates and new novena announcements — only if you opted in during sign-up or enabled this in Settings
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored using Supabase, a secure cloud database provider. We use row-level security — only you can access your own data. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS).
Prayer content is also cached locally on your device so you can pray offline. This local cache contains only prayer texts and reflections — no personal data.

We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or data brokers.
Your Rights
- Access your data at any time within the app
- Update your name and preferences in Settings
- Delete your account and all associated data from Settings › Delete Account
- Request a copy of your data by emailing us
- Turn off notifications at any time in Settings or your device settings
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time via Settings › Communications or by emailing us
Account deletion is permanent and immediate. All your data — intentions, journal entries, novena progress, and testimonies — is deleted from our servers. This cannot be undone.
Children
Nós is rated 4+ on the App Store and contains no mature content. However, our account-based features are intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and post a notice in the app. Continued use of Nós after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the United States.
